A senior police officer has gone missing in Balochistan, raising alarm among security authorities in the province. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mastung, Rafiq Hamza Mengal, was last seen travelling from Hub to Mastung. More than 24 hours have passed since his disappearance, and efforts to trace him are underway.
According to police officials, DSP Rafiq Hamza had recently returned to his native village, Mashkay, in Awaran District. He had gone there to attend his motherโs funeral before returning to duty. After completing the visit, he traveled back to Hub checkpoint and later left for Mastung on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities reported that the officer had reached Surab on the National Highway during his journey. However, after that point, all communication was lost. His mobile phone was found switched off, deepening concerns about his safety. Family members, colleagues, and local communities are now anxiously waiting for updates.
Deputy Commissioner Mastung, Behram Saleem, confirmed that there are official reports of the officerโs disappearance. He added that inquiries are being conducted to trace his whereabouts.
