RAWALPINDI: In Rawalpindi, a seminary teacher was arrested by the police on Thursday following accusations of attempting to sexually assault a 16-year-old boy.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed at Naseerabad police station, a resident of Dhoke Gujran in Rawalpindi reported that his 16-year-old son was attending Jamia Masjid Muhammad in Westridge for the past two years to memorize the Quran. The father stated that his son was normal and dedicated to his studies until the past three months when he started displaying signs of stress.

On November 8, the boy returned home from the seminary and began crying. When asked about the reason, he revealed that he had been subjected to sexual assault and harassment by his teacher, Qari Umar Khattab, over the last three months. The boy explained that Qari Umar would call him to his living quarters after lessons, where he would attempt to engage in inappropriate behavior, including trying to kiss and touch him.
The young boy disclosed that his teacher attempted to rape him, but he screamed and threatened to inform his uncle. However, on November 8, Qari Umar allegedly made another attempt to assault the boy, and when the boy resisted, he physically attacked him with punches, kicks, and even a plastic pipe.
Following the registration of the FIR, Qari Umar was taken into custody, and investigations into the matter are currently underway.

In these eight districts, markets, including shopping malls, are allowed to remain open on Thursday and Friday. Lahore is using safe city cameras to monitor the enforcement of the lockdown.
