American actress Selma Blair was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting flight attendants aboard a Delta Air Lines flight travelling from Los Angeles to New York, according to authorities.
The incident occurred late Sunday when the aircraft arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. Port Authority police responded to reports of a physically abusive passenger aboard the plane.
Authorities identified the suspect as Blair, 54, who was subsequently detained and transported to a hospital for medical evaluation. Officials said two flight attendants sustained injuries during the alleged altercation, while one crew member required hospital treatment.
According to media reports, Blair allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head while being transported to the hospital. She was also accused of assaulting a nurse after arriving at the medical facility.
However, a representative for the actress said a medical emergency triggered the incident. The representative stated that Blair received immediate medical attention after the plane landed and was in stable condition.
Blair, known for her performances in films including *Cruel Intentions*, *Legally Blonde* and *Hellboy*, publicly disclosed her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 2018. She has since discussed her health challenges and treatment publicly.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The allegations have drawn attention because of the actress’s medical history and the reported injuries suffered by airline staff.
The incident remains under investigation, and the allegations have not been established as proven facts.
