ISLAMABAD: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan’s security forces carried out 40,348 counterterrorism operations this year, killing 2,084 confirmed terrorists during nationwide campaigns.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, the military spokesperson presented an overview of the country’s security situation and ongoing counterterrorism efforts under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
Lt Gen Chaudhry said security forces maintained a high operational tempo throughout the year. He added that the military conducted an average of 194 operations every day against militant groups across the country.
Counterterrorism operations continue nationwide
According to the ISPR chief, the operations resulted in the elimination of 2,084 confirmed terrorists. He said the figures represented an average of 10 militants killed each day during security operations.
Furthermore, Lt Gen Chaudhry highlighted the scale of military activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stated that security forces conducted 1,971 operations in the province alone as part of efforts to dismantle terrorist networks.
The military spokesperson said the armed forces continued targeting militant hideouts through intelligence-based and coordinated operations aimed at improving the country’s security environment.
Azm-e-Istehkam campaign remains active
Meanwhile, Lt Gen Chaudhry reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining counterterrorism efforts under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
He said security forces remain focused on eliminating terrorism and maintaining peace through continuous operations across affected regions.
The press briefing comes as Pakistan continues nationwide counterterrorism operations against militant groups. Military authorities have intensified intelligence-based actions in recent months to disrupt terrorist activities and strengthen national security.
