Swift Operation Ends Brief Occupation of Government School
KHYBER: Security forces killed 10 militants in Bara on Monday after they briefly seized a government school in the Akkakhel area, officials confirmed. Authorities said the armed group, identified as members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), stormed the school and hoisted their flag on the premises.
However, security personnel responded immediately and launched a swift operation. As a result, forces eliminated all militants within hours and regained control of the building. Officials added that the attackers attempted to flee shortly after the เคเคฌเฅเคเคพ but failed due to timely interception.
Moreover, authorities stated that the militants had carried out similar hit-and-run movements in recent days across parts of Bara. Therefore, security forces intensified surveillance and acted decisively once they identified the เคธเคฎเฅเคน.
Rising Militant Activity Alarms Residents and Officials
Meanwhile, local sources reported growing concern among residents due to increased militant presence since the last week of Ramazan. Armed individuals allegedly moved freely in several areas conducted snap vehicle checks, and briefly established a checkpoint in Al-Haj Market.
In addition, militants reportedly approached residents, sought cooperation, and shared videos on social media to project influence. Consequently, these actions raised serious questions about local security arrangements.
Furthermore, the operation followed a stern warning from Frontier Corps Inspector General Maj. Gen. Rao Imran Sartaj, who told tribal elders that authorities would not negotiate with militants. He also cautioned residents against supporting such elements.
On Sunday, a multi-party conference organised by the Awami National Party echoed similar concerns and demanded immediate action against militan outfitin Bara.
