Three terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Dera Ismail Khan, security sources confirmed on Wednesday. The operation was conducted following actionable intelligence regarding the presence of militants involved in multiple attacks against law enforcement agencies and security forces.
According to officials, the slain terrorists were wanted in numerous serious cases, including targeted attacks on police personnel and security installations. The suspects were identified as Naimatullah, Abdul Rauf Afghani, and Mustafa, all of whom had been on the CTD’s most-wanted list for their involvement in militant activities in the region.
During the operation, CTD teams recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition from the terrorists. The seized items included three Kalashnikov rifles, nine magazines, two hand grenades, and a large number of cartridges. Officials said the recovery of arms highlights the group’s capacity to carry out further attacks had the operation not been executed in time.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi lauded the CTD for the successful intelligence-based operation, praising the professionalism and bravery of the officers involved. “The nation stands shoulder to shoulder with our brave forces in eliminating the scourge of Fitna Al Hindustan,” he said, reaffirming the government’s resolve to combat terrorism across the country.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, along with the Additional Inspector General of CTD, also commended the teams for their swift and effective action. The IGP stressed that any attack on police or security personnel would be met with a strong and decisive response.
He further stated that intelligence-based operations would be intensified in the coming days to track down and eliminate remaining terrorists operating in the province. “Our mission is the complete eradication of these extremists to ensure lasting peace and security for the people,” the IGP said.
The operation marks another significant step in ongoing counterterrorism efforts aimed at dismantling militant networks in the region.
