ISLAMABAD: With reports of terror threats looming over Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Pakistan has urged India to ensure the national team’s security during the ICC World Cup 2023.
During a weekly press briefing in the federal capital, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch addressed concerns about visa delays for Pakistani fans and journalists, as well as media reports on potential security threats during the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023.

Despite applying well in advance of the tournament, the Indian government has yet to grant visas to media personnel.
She emphasized that the host country, India, bears the responsibility of ensuring the safety of the Pakistani cricket team during the World Cup and creating a conducive environment.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch expressed that they are maintaining communication with Indian authorities. They are hopeful that visas will be issued promptly.
The FO spokesperson cautioned New Delhi against intertwining politics with sports, stressing that as the host, India should not obstruct Pakistani fans from enjoying the World Cup.
High Alert: Security Boost for World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad
Amid a terror threat concerning Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium, Indian authorities have heightened security preparations and remain on high alert.
According to Indian media reports, over 3,000 police personnel have been deployed in and around the stadium, which is set to host five matches, including the opening game, the Pakistan-India clash, and the tournament’s final.
As part of stringent security measures, the authorities restrict spectators from bringing anything into the stadium, except for their mobile phones.
Security measures will further involve closing the road leading to the stadium during matches to minimize security risks.
The mega event kicks off with England facing New Zealand at the same stadium this Thursday.
The ICC World Cup 2023, spanning from October 5 to November 19, will involve 10 teams competing at 10 different venues in a round-robin format. This format will include a total of 45 league matches during the tournament
