Authorities have imposed Section 144 in Murree from August 10 to 16. The restrictions aim to strengthen security and traffic arrangements ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
Murree District Police Officer (DPO) Raza Tanveer Sipra announced the measures in a video message. He said authorities introduced special arrangements to protect tourists and residents.
Only families will be allowed to proceed towards Mall Road during the restriction period. Authorities will not permit groups of non-family individuals to enter the area.
Murree Police Tighten Security Measures
Sipra warned that authorities would not tolerate hooliganism, misbehavior, or activities disrupting public order. Police have also completely banned aerial firing and weapons displays.
Police will take action against individuals performing wheelies and dangerous stunts. The DPO urged citizens and tourists to avoid fireworks and other illegal activities.
He warned that authorities would take indiscriminate action against anyone violating Section 144. Police will closely monitor public areas during the Independence Day period.
DPO Urges Peaceful Independence Day Celebrations
The DPO appealed to citizens and tourists to celebrate Independence Day peacefully. He also urged everyone to cooperate with police and maintain law and order.
Authorities have introduced the restrictions to manage the expected increase in visitors. Murree usually attracts large numbers of tourists during national celebrations.
Police will focus on maintaining smooth traffic movement and protecting public safety. Officers will also monitor activities that could threaten residents or visitors.
Sipra said protecting the lives and property of the public remains the policeโs top priority. He urged everyone to follow the restrictions and avoid actions that could create public disorder.
