In an effort to attract users to its premium membership, YouTube, owned by Google, is introducing a new feature called Playables, enabling users to play games directly on the platform.
Users will be able to access arcade games in the Playables section of the YouTube app or desktop website without the need for downloads. The Playables section will include popular titles such as Angry Birds Showdown, Brain Out, and Daily Solitaire, with plans to expand the game library over time.
Presently in beta testing, Playables is limited to a selected group of Premium subscribers, and its accessibility is expected to be gradually expanded in the coming months. YouTube intends to keep Playables available until March 28, 2024, after which it will assess its performance and decide on its future.
Additionally, YouTube is experimenting with new generative AI features, allowing users to create music tracks with a simple text prompt or a hummed tune. As part of this initiative, YouTube introduced Dream Track, an experiment on YouTube Shorts driven by Lyria, an advanced music generation model developed by Google DeepMind.
Bard AI By Google Now Capable Of Responding To Queries About YouTube Videos
Meanwhile, Google has recently announced in an official blog post that its AI chatbot, Bard AI, has gained the capability to answer questions related to YouTube videos.
This enhancement allows users to seek specific information about video content, such as details within a recipe or the location featured in a travel video.
Unlike the previous YouTube Extension for Bard, which could handle and analyze videos through an extension, this new functionality enables the chatbot to provide precise answers based on the video content.
For instance, users can now ask Bard AI about specific details in a video, like the number of eggs required for a recipe in the first video on making olive oil cake.
The AI’s ability to deeply analyze YouTube videos is linked to a feature that YouTube is separately testing. This feature, available to YouTube Premium customers on an opt-in basis, allows users to ask questions about videos, offering video summaries, recommending related content, and providing additional information sourced from the web and video.
