WhatsApp is introducing a new in-app dialer feature

WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is set to introduce a new in-app dialer feature, according to a recent report from WABetaInfo. This feature is currently being rolled out to beta testers, allowing them to experiment with its functionality.

The key enhancement comes in the form of a floating action button within the calls tab of the app. This button enables users to quickly access the in-app dialer, streamlining the process of placing calls directly from WhatsApp.

Unlike before, users no longer need to add contacts to their address book or navigate through conversations manually to initiate calls.

With the new in-app dialer, users can type a phone number directly into the dialer interface and make calls instantly. Furthermore, WhatsApp offers the option to save the entered phone number as a new contact or add it to an existing contact’s information, providing flexibility and convenience in managing contacts.

Additionally, the dialer screen includes a messaging shortcut, allowing users to seamlessly transition from calling to messaging. This integration enhances user experience by facilitating quick messaging to the same phone number after an attempted call.

WABetaInfo reports that this feature aims to improve efficiency by eliminating the need for users to perform multiple steps to make a call.

By bypassing the traditional methods of contact management within WhatsApp, such as saving contacts or navigating through message threads, the in-app dialer enhances the speed and ease of initiating communication directly from the app.

Overall, this update represents WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to enhance user convenience and streamline communication tools within its platform, catering to the evolving needs of its global user base.
