Pakistan asks Meta if it sells user data

Facebook and Instagram’s parent company, Meta, has reiterated a strict policy regarding user privacy, stating that it does not sell user information.

The remarks were delivered by Arianne Jimenez, Privacy Policy Manager for Meta in the Asia Pacific, during a video conference with media in Islamabad, Pakistan, to discuss the company’s privacy policies.

Jimenez briefed the press on the measures taken by the company to ensure the privacy and security of customer data on all of its services.

In an interview, a representative for Meta explained that the company places a premium on protecting users’ privacy and that it consults with experts in fields such as data protection and privacy law, security, interface design, engineering, product management, and public policy to ensure that its products are built with their needs in mind.

She claimed that with Meta, users have “more agency over their personal information and security settings thanks to a suite of specialized tools and features.”

As Jimenez stressed, Meta does not share its users’ personal information with third parties. Partners and third parties with access to particular data are bound by restrictions on how that data can and cannot be used and disclosed.

The company thinks that users should be allowed to export their data to other services as part of free and open internet, so it provides its customers with the means to do so.

She said that Meta is constantly working to improve its privacy and security measures and that the firm plans to keep investing in new features to provide its users wit the best possible services.
