OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, recently announced a delay in launching its “Voice Mode” feature by a month to July due to technical challenges, according to reports. Originally planned for late June, this feature, offering a realistic voice chat experience to a select group of ChatGPT Plus subscribers, is being postponed to ensure it meets high standards upon release.
The delay aims to enhance the model’s content detection capabilities and improve overall user experience. OpenAI plans to introduce Voice Mode initially to a limited audience for feedback, with broader availability to ChatGPT Plus users expected in the fall, pending safety and reliability tests. Alongside this, OpenAI is also developing additional features like video and screen-sharing capabilities.
In a recent update on social media, OpenAI mentioned ongoing efforts to scale infrastructure for millions of users while maintaining real-time responsiveness. The company’s introduction of GPT-4o in May underscores its commitment to advancing AI technologies, particularly in realistic voice interaction and multimodal capabilities, positioning it competitively in the AI landscape.
