Pakistani Developers
Google hosted its flagship event, Think Apps 2024, in Lahore on Wednesday, drawing nearly 350 of Pakistan’s leading developers alongside global and regional industry leaders and experts.
The event, the largest of its kind in the industry, focused on empowering developers to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to drive innovation, growth, and sustainability within Pakistan’s rapidly expanding app sector.
Building on the success of Think Apps 2023, this year’s event emphasized the tremendous opportunities for Pakistani developers, particularly in creating high-quality, sustainable games and expanding their reach to a global audience.
Recognizing the potential of Pakistan’s tech talent, Google unveiled a series of new programs designed to further support and enhance the skills of developers in the country.
Among the key initiatives launched is the Game Design Masterclass, a comprehensive 6-month program aimed at Pakistan’s top game developers.
This masterclass will offer in-depth training on creating high-quality games, bringing together talent from leading studios across the nation.
Another significant addition is the Google Ads Academy, which will feature offline hackathon workshops held in Lahore and Islamabad.
These workshops will provide marketing professionals from Pakistan’s top studios with hands-on training in app growth strategies, enhancing their ability to effectively promote their products.
Additionally, Google is introducing the Build with AI and Cloud AI Study Jams, which will offer developers opportunities to deepen their expertise through practical AI and Cloud training. This initiative has already trained over 9,300 developers, reflecting its strong impact and success.
These new programs complement Google’s existing efforts to support Pakistani developers, such as the Google App Academy, which has reached over 800 participants to date.
The App Academy’s online workshops offer valuable insights into critical marketing topics and are localized in Urdu to ensure accessibility.
Furthermore, Google is enhancing its engagement through key industry events, including the Google Developer Conference in the US, CXO meetups in the Asia-Pacific region, and APAC’s App Summit.
These events aim to connect leaders from Pakistan’s top gaming and app studios with global counterparts, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Farhan S Qureshi, Google’s Director for Pakistan, emphasized the high growth potential of Pakistan’s app and gaming industry. He noted, “Think Apps 2024 underscores our commitment to empowering local developers.
By providing access to AI-powered tools and resources, we aim to help them create exceptional games and apps, drive profitability, and build sustainable businesses.”
Qureshi also highlighted that these efforts are designed to boost the country’s economy through digital exports and create high-value employment opportunities.
Google remains dedicated to investing in Pakistan’s developer ecosystem and supporting its journey toward global success.
