ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan officials assured petroleum dealers to process fuel subsidy claims within 48 hours. SBP officials gave the assurance to petroleum dealers during a meeting with Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik.
The meeting focused on implementing the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme and addressing concerns raised by petroleum pump associations.
Officials said the government had allocated funds for three months under the relief scheme. They added that Rs25 billion for the first month had already been provided to the SBP to ensure timely reimbursements. The SBP briefed dealers on the reimbursement mechanism and assured them that submitted claims would be processed within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications presented the digital system developed to implement the relief scheme.
Officials also said a dedicated control room had been established to assist petrol pumps and address their complaints. Petrol pumps can contact the control room through helpline 9772 for assistance.
Furthermore, petroleum dealers welcomed the relief scheme and assured the government of their cooperation for its smooth implementation.
Ali Pervaiz Malik appreciated the dealers’ support and stressed close coordination among stakeholders for transparent and timely implementation. Representatives from the Petroleum Division, Ministry of IT, SBP, OGRA, OCAC and petroleum dealers attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, office-bearers of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association said negotiations with the government had ended the deadlock over the relief package. They said dealers had started implementing the package following the agreement. The PPDA also expressed hope that timely payments under the agreed mechanism would resolve dealers’ concerns and support continued implementation of the scheme.
