RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine to Riyadh on Tuesday.
During their meeting, they reviewed various aspects of Saudi-Ukrainian relations, and engaged in discussions concerning the ongoing Ukrainian-Russian conflict, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting international initiatives aimed at resolving crises and fostering peace, the crown prince reiterated Saudi Arabia’s dedication to addressing the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.
President Zelensky took to social media platform X to express his intention to discuss matters concerning prisoners of war and deportees with the crown prince. He expressed confidence that the meeting would yield positive outcomes, citing the Kingdom’s previous assistance in the release of Ukrainian detainees.
Notably, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman played a pivotal role in securing the release of 10 foreign prisoners captured in Ukraine back in September 2022, facilitating a significant prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.
President Zelensky further mentioned his plans to explore opportunities for economic collaboration and Saudi Arabia’s potential involvement in Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts during his visit.
