Saudi Arabia’s famous Kingdom Centre has ordered all office workers to work from home. The decision follows repeated Houthi attacks on the kingdom.
The 99-storey skyscraper in Riyadh announced mandatory remote working on Sunday. Management has not confirmed when employees can return.
However, the shopping mall inside the building remains open.
Kingdom Centre Closes Offices Over Security Concerns
The decision comes one week after a Houthi attack on Riyadh’s international airport killed 13 people.
The airport remains closed, while schools have extended online learning measures.
Kingdom Centre houses major international organizations, including McKinsey, Merrill Lynch, and the International Monetary Fund.
Meanwhile, Saudi authorities have increased security measures following fresh drone and missile threats.
Two Saudi Pilots Killed in Helicopter Crash
The Saudi-led coalition also confirmed that two military pilots died in a helicopter crash near Yemen’s border.
Officials blamed a technical failure for the crash in Najran.
However, Houthi forces claimed they had shot down a Saudi helicopter in the same area.
The coalition also reported intercepting three drones and two ballistic missiles targeting Saudi territory.
Egypt Considers Military Support for Saudi Arabia
Meanwhile, Egypt is considering defensive support for Saudi Arabia as regional tensions increase.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed readiness to protect the kingdom if Saudi leaders requested assistance.
He stressed that Egypt seeks defensive cooperation rather than military confrontation.
Egypt’s parliament was set to discuss the matter during an emergency session on Sunday.
The growing conflict has raised concerns about regional security and international shipping routes.
Saudi Arabia continues strengthening its defences as Houthi attacks threaten major cities and infrastructure.
