RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has warned that the Kingdom will deliver a decisive response to any threat or attacks. He reaffirmed Riyadh’s commitment to reducing regional tensions through diplomacy, but warned of a stern action against attackers.
Addressing the Shura Council on Wednesday, the Crown Prince said recent attacks against Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states had shown that Gulf security and stability were closely interconnected, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
He said Saudi Arabia would strengthen strategic cooperation and economic integration with other Gulf countries while continuing efforts to safeguard regional security.
Prince Mohammed also highlighted the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance (MJDA), established by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye. He said the alliance would strengthen regional stability, improve security coordination and help the three countries respond collectively to emerging challenges.
Discussing Yemen, the Crown Prince said Riyadh would continue supporting the internationally recognised Yemeni government in extending its authority and restoring stability. He accused the Houthis of choosing what he described as chaos and destruction while posing a threat to Yemen and the wider region.
The Saudi leader also rejected attempts to use international waterways for political or economic pressure. He said Riyadh had established a multinational maritime defence alliance aimed at protecting international waterways and safeguarding shared interests.
Prince Mohammed praised Saudi armed forces for confronting security threats and reiterated the Kingdom’s support for diplomatic initiatives designed to prevent further escalation.
Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye signed the MJDA agreement in August, pledging to consider an armed attack on one member an attack on all three.
