Sania Saeed says women should not carry keeping families together, warning that society sacrifices their dignity and self-respect.
Speaking on the Heart to Haute podcast with Hassan Choudary, Saeed discussed her HUM TV role in Aap Ki Izzat. She plays a mother-in-law who enables her son Tabish’s neglect of Beena, played by Urwa Hocane.
Saeed said the drama highlights how women bear the burden of protecting family structures. She argued that this expectation can damage their confidence, freedom and identity.

The actor initially rejected the drama because she expected the role to demand too much. However, she accepted after director Saife Hasan encouraged her.
Saeed described her character as helpless, saying cruelty and manipulation give her power within a household. Meanwhile, Beena suffers helplessness and eventually leaves home with another man.
“Beena has paid a price for building a happy and flourishing home,” Saeed said, describing her as a lost and broken woman. She added that education and skills could have helped Beena leave her abusive marriage earlier.
Actor calls for stronger support
Saeed urged parents to give daughters education, skills and confidence while encouraging them to speak openly. She said these tools can help women avoid degrading choices in abusive relationships.
The actor rejected the idea that Beena should return to Tabish. She said society ignores women’s suffering until violence reaches an extreme level.
Saeed questioned whether Beena could regain her identity after emotional abuse. She said Tabish and Beena could rebuild their relationship if they worked hard and created foundations.
However, Saeed remained doubtful about whether Tabish would make the effort. She suggested rebuilding trust would demand commitment and meaningful change.
