Wife, relatives charged with attempted murder after domestic spat turns ugly in Uttar Pradesh
A seemingly trivial domestic dispute over samosas escalated into a full-blown village brawl in Uttar Pradesh, India, leaving a man injured and four people booked for attempted murder, according to a report by NDTV.
The incident occurred on August 30 in Sehrapur village, when Shivam, a resident of Anandpur, allegedly failed to bring samosas home for his wife, Sangeeta. The argument quickly spiraled out of control when Sangeeta summoned her parents, Usha and Ramladaite, along with her maternal uncle, Ramotar, the next day.
A panchayat meeting was held on August 31 in the presence of a former village head, Avdhesh Sharma, to resolve the issue. However, the meeting turned violent, with Shivam allegedly being assaulted by his wife and her relatives.
Following the incident, Shivam’s mother, Vijay Kumari, filed a formal complaint, after which police registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including attempted murder charges.
A video of the attack has since gone viral on social media, showing the victim and his family being beaten. Police confirmed that the injured are currently receiving medical treatment, and further investigations are underway.
