Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is in the spotlight again after receiving a legal notice for endorsing a pan masala brand. The Kota Consumer Court has issued the notice following a complaint filed by senior BJP leader and lawyer Inder Mohan Singh Huni.
Huni alleged that Salman Khan, along with the brand, misled consumers with false advertising claims. Rajshree Pan Masala advertised its product as containing “saffron-blended cardamom” and “saffron-flavored pan masala.” The complaint argued these claims are unrealistic, as saffron costs around ₹4 lakh per kilogram, making its inclusion in a ₹5 product impossible.
The petitioner also criticized the ad for promoting pan masala consumption among youth, a product linked to oral cancer. “Salman Khan is a role model for millions, yet celebrities here endorse harmful products like pan masala, which would be avoided in many other countries,” Huni said.
The court has asked Salman Khan to provide a formal response, with the next hearing scheduled for November 27.
