ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has firmly ruled out the possibility of Sher Afzal Marwat rejoining the party, confirming that his departure is final.
Raja also shared that PTI founder Imran Khan is disheartened by Pakistan’s elimination from the Champions Trophy.
Speaking to the media after meeting Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, Raja dismissed speculations about the delay in their meeting, stating that there was no particular reason for it. He further alleged that the prison system is being controlled by forces unrelated to jail administration.
In his statement, Raja revealed that Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, has been denied visitation rights, and that Khan’s children have only been able to speak to him four times in the past six months.
Following these developments, Raja announced that, on Imran Khan’s instructions, he would be writing a letter to the chief justice to address these issues.
Raja also briefed the media on PTI’s upcoming campaign in Sindh, asserting that the province is eagerly awaiting the party’s presence. He vowed that PTI would fight for Sindh’s rights, emphasizing the protection of its water resources.
On the matter of Sher Afzal Marwat’s removal from the party, Raja clarified that those expelled had been dismissed for valid reasons. He reinforced that PTI stands with the oppressed and will continue its fight under Imran Khan’s leadership, particularly in Punjab, where authoritarianism is on the rise.
Regarding party leadership, Raja confirmed that Imran Khan has expressed confidence in Junaid Akbar’s presidency and directed those holding multiple positions within the party to relinquish their additional roles.
Raja also criticized individuals who remain in PTI while speaking against the party, reaffirming that expulsions were based on solid grounds.
