Sajid Sadpara
Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara has etched another historic milestone by successfully summiting Dhaulagiri — the world’s seventh-highest mountain at 8,167 meters — without the use of supplemental oxygen.
This incredible achievement highlights not only his personal resilience and mountaineering prowess but also cements his reputation among the elite climbers of the world.
Located in north-central Nepal, Dhaulagiri is considered one of the most formidable 8,000-meter peaks due to its treacherous slopes, frequent avalanches, and highly unpredictable weather patterns. Climbing it without supplemental oxygen demands extreme physical endurance, mental fortitude, and high-altitude experience — all of which Sajid demonstrated with exceptional skill.
Sajid’s expedition was made possible with the logistical and climbing support of Seven Summit Treks Nepal, sponsorship from Sabroso Pakistan, and technical climbing gear provided by Kailas.
His successful summit without oxygen was celebrated widely in Pakistan’s adventure sports community and acknowledged by global mountaineering circles, who recognize the sheer difficulty of such a feat.
This latest accomplishment adds to Sajid Sadpara’s already impressive portfolio. He has previously summited several of the world’s highest peaks, often without the aid of bottled oxygen, a rare approach in modern high-altitude mountaineering. His dedication is deeply personal.
Sajid is the son of the legendary climber Muhammad Ali Sadpara, who tragically lost his life during a winter expedition on K2 in 2021. Since then, Sajid has devoted himself to realizing his father’s dream — to summit all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter mountains without supplemental oxygen.
Remarkably, Sajid has already climbed K2 twice, including one oxygen-free ascent, and he continues to serve the mountaineering community by participating in rescue missions, particularly on K2 — a peak known for its deadly challenges.
Sajid Sadpara’s recent feat is not just a personal victory but a source of immense national pride. It is a powerful reminder of the human spirit’s capacity to rise — quite literally — above all odds.
