ISLAMABAD: Russian woman, an expert of martial art, resisted her arrest when Islamabad police tried to arrest her for staying illegally in Pakistan after the expiry of her visa.
Islamabad police have now booked Merkulova Kristina under additional charges and the woman could face two years in jail, in addition to be punished for overstay in the country.
The police Tuesday raided a hotel in Islamabadโs Sitara Market on a tip-off and interrogated the Russian woman whose documents revealed that her visa had expired.

The foreigner who entered Pakistan on December 30 last year had an extended visa that expired on March 25.
According to the First Investigation Report (FIR), the police team moved the Russian tourist, Merkulova Kristina, to the womenโs police station in Islamabad for further investigation and then decided to detain her under the Foreigners Act. However, Kristina resisted the arrest and assaulted Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Parveen and her team.
โIn the resistance, the Russian woman who knows Martial Arts ripped off the uniform of the lady officer,โ the FIR stated. She also damaged the property in the lockup including a CCTV camera.
She has now also been booked under Sections 186 [obstructing public servant], 353 [assault to deter public servant], 427 [mischief causing damage] and 506 [criminal intimidation] of Pakistan Penal Code.
