At least 26 people have been killed after Russian forces bombed a school serving as a humanitarian aid distribution centre in southeastern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region.
The attack occurred on Monday in the village of Komyshuvakha, where residents regularly gathered to receive humanitarian assistance.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian forces carried out multiple airstrikes, with a second wave involving nine bombs targeting a shelter where people had taken refuge.
According to Ukrainian emergency services, two rescue workers and four police officers were among those killed. Five others sustained injuries and received medical treatment.
Meanwhile, rescue teams continued searching the destroyed building for survivors. Local officials reported that 27 people remained missing following the bombardment.
Zelensky condemned the attack, accusing Moscow of deliberately targeting a location used for humanitarian assistance.
The incident comes amid continuing Russian attacks across Ukraine and renewed diplomatic efforts to end the war.
Separately, US officials announced plans to hold Russia-Ukraine negotiations in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11, focusing on de-escalation, security arrangements and ending the conflict.
