Russiaโs Embassy in Tel Aviv has warned its citizens against traveling to Israel after fresh military exchanges between Israel and Iran on Monday. The violence marked the first direct confrontation between the two countries since a ceasefire agreement between Tehran and the United States took effect two months ago.
In an official notice, the Russian Embassy urged Russians already in Israel to remain vigilant. It advised them to follow all instructions issued by local authorities. The embassy also said it had received no reports of Russian citizens being injured during the Iranian rocket attacks.
Meanwhile, Russiaโs Consulate in Haifa announced temporary changes to its operations. The consulate said it would shorten working hours by one hour throughout the week. In addition, it will limit services to issuing passports, Russian visas, and return certificates for citizens traveling back to Russia. However, the embassy confirmed that its consular section in Tel Aviv continues to operate normally.
The latest escalation began when Iran launched a series of attacks against Israel. Tehran said the strikes were a response to ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon. Israel then carried out retaliatory attacks on targets in central and western Iran. Consequently, fears grew that the region could slide back into a wider conflict.
Amid rising tensions, U.S. President Donald Trump called on both sides to halt military actions immediately. He wrote on Truth Social that Israel and Iran must stop exchanging fire.
Shortly afterward, Iranโs military announced it would suspend attacks against Israel. However, it warned that stronger measures would follow if Israeli operations continued, particularly in southern Lebanon. Reports also indicated that Israel halted its strikes against Iran following a request from Trump.
Russia, a close partner of Iran, has repeatedly criticized the U.S.-Israeli campaign against Tehran. Earlier this year, President Vladimir Putin welcomed the ceasefire but warned that renewed hostilities could bring severe consequences for the Middle East and beyond.
