Pakistan’s insurance sector paid more than one million claims during 2025, with total payouts reaching Rs. 542 billion.
The figures cover payments made by both life and non-life insurance companies across several major categories. The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan released the detailed claims data for the first time.
Life Insurers Paid Rs. 410 Billion
Life insurance companies paid Rs. 410 billion in claims during 2025. More than 33,000 of those claims were related to deaths.
The figures provide a broader view of claim payments across Pakistan’s life insurance sector. They also show the scale of financial commitments handled by insurers during the year.
Non-Life Insurers Settled Rs. 132 Billion
Non-life insurance companies paid Rs. 132 billion in claims during the same period. Health and accident claims accounted for more than 720,000 settlements.
Meanwhile, insurers settled over 282,000 motor insurance claims during 2025. Around 11,000 additional claims involved fire and property insurance.
Together, these payments brought total insurance claim disbursements to Rs. 542 billion.
SECP Highlights Claims Transparency
SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said publishing detailed claims data would strengthen accountability within the insurance industry.
He also stressed the importance of timely claim payments for maintaining policyholders’ confidence in insurance companies.
The release of detailed claims figures provides information about how insurers handled claims across major categories during 2025.
Insurance Premiums Rise 15 Percent
The insurance industry also recorded growth in premium collection during the year. Total premiums increased by 15 percent to Rs. 778 billion.
At the same time, the sector’s total assets reached Rs. 4.1 trillion.
Digital channels also recorded significant growth during 2025. Premium generated through digital channels increased by 71 percent over the year.
The latest figures therefore highlight growth in insurance premiums alongside substantial claim payments across Pakistan’s insurance industry.
With more than one million claims settled, insurers paid hundreds of billions of rupees across life, health, accident, motor, fire and property categories.
