The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man in Rawalpindi over an alleged work visa fraud involving Rs3.2 million. The agency said its Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Rawalpindi conducted an operation and arrested the suspect. Authorities identified him as Umar Raza Naeem.
The FIA registered a case against Naeem following allegations that he collected money by promising to arrange work visas.
According to investigators, the suspect allegedly received Rs3.2 million from seven acquaintances of the complainant. He reportedly assured them that he would arrange work visas for them.
However, the promised visas allegedly never materialised. The suspect also allegedly failed to return the money collected from the victims.
FIA Launches Further Investigation
The FIA said it arrested Naeem after registering a case over the alleged fraud. Investigators are now examining the financial transactions and circumstances surrounding the case.
Authorities are also expected to determine whether other people were involved in the alleged visa scheme.
Work visa scams often involve promises of overseas employment in exchange for large payments. Therefore, authorities regularly warn applicants to verify employment and visa arrangements before handing over money.
In this case, the FIA has not disclosed the destination countries involved or provided further details about the alleged visa promises.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to establish the full extent of the alleged fraud.
