Gold prices surged sharply in Pakistan on Thursday, with the price per tola climbing by Rs13,700. The increase followed a strong rise in international bullion prices.
The latest jump pushed local gold rates to a new level. Silver prices also increased during the session, adding to the broader rise in precious metals.
Gold Price Reaches Rs471,936 Per Tola
According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), gold gained Rs13,700 per tola. The price reached Rs471,936 per tola in the local market.
The price of 10 grams of gold also increased by Rs11,746. It reached Rs404,609 following the latest rise.
The sharp movement came alongside a significant increase in international gold prices. The global bullion rate rose by $137 per ounce to reach $4,495.
Silver Prices Also Rise
Silver prices also moved higher in the local market on Thursday. The price increased by Rs317 per tola, reaching Rs7,169.
Meanwhile, the price of 10 grams of silver also rose by Rs317. It reached Rs6,146.
The gains indicate strong upward movement across both major precious metals in the local market.
Gold Prices Fluctuate Throughout the Week
Gold prices have experienced notable fluctuations in Pakistan during the week. On Wednesday, local gold rates declined despite a significant increase in international prices.
The price of gold fell by Rs3,700 per tola on Wednesday. It dropped from Rs461,936 to Rs458,236.
Similarly, the price of 10 grams declined by Rs3,172. It reached Rs392,863 during the session.
A day earlier, gold prices remained unchanged in the local market. The APGJSA reported the per-tola price at Rs461,936 on Tuesday.
Gold Climbs After Mondayโs Increase
Gold had already recorded an increase at the beginning of the week. On Monday, the price gained Rs2,000 per tola.
The increase pushed the local gold rate to Rs461,936 per tola. The price of 10 grams also rose by Rs1,715 to Rs396,035.
The latest surge has therefore reversed the decline recorded on Wednesday. It has also taken the per-tola price well above the levels recorded earlier this week.
International Gold Prices Support Local Rates
The latest local increase came as international bullion prices also climbed sharply. Gold gained $137 per ounce to reach $4,495 in the global market.
International movements often influence gold prices in Pakistan. However, local rates can also respond to currency movements and domestic market conditions.
For buyers and investors, the latest increase highlights the continued volatility of precious metal prices. Gold has moved significantly within just a few trading sessions, making daily rate changes particularly important for the local market.
