Rockstar Games has revealed new details about Grand Theft Auto VI, highlighting its massive map and advanced weather system.
The upcoming title will feature dynamic and localized weather, including hurricanes and tropical storms. Rockstar vice president Owen Shepherd said the studio “re-engineered” its weather system to create persistent conditions across different areas.
Players could enjoy sunshine in one region while watching a storm approach elsewhere. Meanwhile, rain will create puddles, wet surfaces, and rainbows, while hurricanes will bring heavy clouds, strong winds, and lightning.
GTA VI Map Doubles GTA V Scale
Rockstar also confirmed that GTA VI’s map will be twice the size of GTA V. The world will cover six regions, including Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gelhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.
Rockstar North co-studio head Aaron Garbut said the development team focused heavily on density and handcrafted details. The studio aims to create its most immersive open world yet.
More Animals And Activities Await Players
GTA VI will feature more than 170 animal species, adding greater variety to its wildlife. Players can also explore the world through activities such as scuba diving, mini golf, base jumping, kayaking, hunting, and animal tracking.
Additionally, a ride-share fast-travel system will let players move around the map. Rockstar will also include optional Snapmatic doomscrolling during some rides.
Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar says it wants to exceed expectations with the highly anticipated title.
