Fans will get a fresh official look at Grand Theft Auto VI as Rockstar prepares an unusual six-hour Netflix exclusivity window
NEW YORK: Rockstar Games is preparing to unveil its next major official look at Grand Theft Auto VI, with “GTA 6: An Extended Look” scheduled to premiere first on Netflix before receiving a free release online.
The presentation will debut on Netflix at 12am Pakistan Standard Time on August 28. Subscribers will receive six hours of exclusive access before Rockstar publishes the complete showcase on its official YouTube channel and GTA 6 website at 6am PKT.
The presentation follows months of unauthorised leaks that reportedly revealed portions of the Leonida map and previously unseen gameplay involving protagonist Jason.
Rockstar Keeps Showcase Details Under Wraps
However, Rockstar has not disclosed exactly what viewers should expect from the Extended Look. The developer has described the presentation only as a more substantial look at GTA 6, while Netflix has promoted it as an “extended first look.”
Consequently, speculation has intensified that Rockstar could reveal significant official gameplay footage or release a third trailer. Neither possibility has received official confirmation.
Moreover, Netflix has described its arrangement with Rockstar as a first-of-its-kind collaboration, giving subscribers early access to one of the gaming industry’s most anticipated presentations.
Physical Edition to Use Digital Download Code
Meanwhile, Rockstar has confirmed an unusual approach for GTA 6’s physical edition. Instead of including a game disc, the retail box will contain a digital download code.
The physical edition will become available on November 12, allowing customers to redeem their codes and preload the title before launch.
At the same time, Rockstar continues to face unauthorised leaks attributed to an anonymous entity known as Cyberleek, which has criticised several digital gaming practices.
Despite the leaks and growing debate over digital ownership, Rockstar has maintained its release schedule.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
