Max Verstappen secured his first Singapore Grand Prix victory on Sunday, completing a dominant weekend at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The Red Bull driver led all 62 laps to claim his second consecutive Formula One win and strengthen his comeback during the 2026 season.
Verstappen finished 7.335 seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who secured second place. Meanwhile, Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli claimed third after a competitive battle in the closing stages of the race.
Verstappen Delivers Commanding Performance
The Dutchman started from pole position and immediately faced pressure from Leclerc, who challenged him through the opening corner. However, Verstappen defended his lead successfully before gradually extending the gap as the race progressed.
Ferrari attempted to challenge Red Bull through its tyre strategy, but Verstappen maintained his advantage throughout the race. He completed his pit stop without losing the lead and managed his tyres effectively despite experiencing radio communication problems.
The victory marked Verstappen’s 73rd career Formula One win and came during his 250th Grand Prix start. Furthermore, he completed a perfect Singapore weekend after winning the sprint race and securing pole positions for both events.
Antonelli Strengthens Championship Position
Antonelli secured third place after overtaking Lewis Hamilton during the closing laps. The young Mercedes driver extended his championship lead over teammate George Russell to 102 points, bringing him closer to securing his first Formula One drivers’ title.
Hamilton endured a difficult afternoon after starting third on the grid. His decision to attempt the race with an extended tyre stint left him vulnerable, allowing several rivals to overtake him before he finished sixth.
McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Meanwhile, Russell recovered from starting at the back following engine penalties to secure ninth place.
Verstappen’s latest triumph strengthens Red Bull’s momentum as the championship approaches its final stages. The Dutchman will now aim to maintain his winning form and challenge the leading contenders in upcoming races.
