Rescue 1122 Shangla responded to 429 emergencies during July, according to the department’s monthly performance report. The service also shifted 168 patients to teaching hospitals for advanced medical treatment.
District Emergency Officer Engineer Malik Sher Dil Khan released the report on Sunday. He said Rescue 1122 remained on high alert throughout the month to protect lives and property across the district.
The report showed that rescue teams handled 214 medical emergencies and 16 road traffic accidents. Moreover, responders provided first aid at incident sites before transporting patients to hospitals whenever necessary.
Medical Emergencies Dominate July Rescue Operations
According to the report, Rescue 1122 also responded to seven drowning incidents during July. Additionally, teams tackled five fire emergencies and one gunshot incident across the district.
Rescue personnel also recovered 18 vehicles involved in different accidents and emergency situations. Consequently, the department maintained continuous emergency operations throughout the reporting period.
Meanwhile, the Hospital Referral Service transferred 168 patients from hospitals in Shangla to teaching hospitals. Therefore, critically ill patients received specialised treatment without unnecessary delays.
Officer Urges Public To Avoid False Emergency Calls
The Rescue 1122 Control Room received 13,351 calls during July. However, only 429 were genuine emergency calls requiring immediate response.
The report revealed that operators received 1,419 dropped calls. Furthermore, officials classified 11,503 calls as non-emergency or unnecessary.
Expressing concern, Engineer Malik Sher Dil Khan urged residents to use the 1122 helpline only for genuine emergencies. He said unnecessary calls delay emergency responses and affect people requiring urgent assistance.
The officer added that Rescue 1122 Shangla continues providing round-the-clock emergency services under the directives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the Director General of Rescue 1122. He also reminded citizens that free emergency assistance remains available for road accidents, fires, medical emergencies, drowning incidents and other life-threatening situations.
