After the recent D-Chowk protests, several arrested government officials were released and welcomed at the Chief Minister’s House by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. During the reception, the Chief Minister acknowledged their service by announcing a one-step promotion for these officials.
The protests led to the detention of both PTI supporters and government staff, with many now released, including 34 police officers, seven TMA officials, and 42 rescue personnel. At the Chief Minister’s House, each official was granted a week’s leave and a stipend of Rs10,000 as a gesture of appreciation. The Chief Minister commended their sacrifices during the protests.
Late last night, District Jail Attock also released 86 detainees, among them two PTI provincial assembly members, 46 Rescue 1122 workers, 25 police officers, and 13 municipal employees. These individuals, who had joined Gandapur’s convoy during the protest, were arrested in various locations, including Attock, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad, facing multiple charges, including those under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Following the court’s approval of their bail petitions, release orders were issued, allowing their return home.
