Reham Khan, the former wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has formally entered Pakistanโs political landscape by announcing her new political platform, the Pakistan Republic Party. The announcement came during a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on July 15, 2025, where she also introduced the partyโs logo, laying out her vision for a fresh political journey aimed at genuine public representation.
Speaking to journalists, Reham Khan stressed that her political struggle is national in scope, declaring, โThe whole of Pakistan is my constituency.โ She criticized the current governmentโs governance style, highlighting the need for reforms that resonate with everyday citizens, especially women and farmers. Her central message revolved around making legislative bodies truly reflective of the peopleโs needs and ensuring policies mirror the challenges faced by the common citizen.
Reham positioned the Pakistan Republic Party not just as another political entity but as a national mission to restore hope and dignity among Pakistanis. She pointed to the recent tradersโ shutter-down strike as a sign of disconnect between the government and the people, questioning why authorities only engage in dialogue after crises escalate. โWhy isnโt consultation done beforehand?โ she asked, underscoring the importance of proactive governance.
Later, through a post on X, Reham Khan urged citizens to become part of her partyโs journey: โThis is for you. Join our working groups. Letโs put our heads together & plan our future together. InshAllah.โ
Reham Khanโs political profile is intertwined with her past as the former spouse of Imran Khan, to whom she was married in 2014. Their marriage ended in divorce after ten months in 2015. In 2018, she published her autobiography, โReham Khan,โ which recounted her personal experiences, including insights into her marriage.
With the launch of the Pakistan Republic Party, Reham Khan aims to redefine political participation by inviting citizens to actively contribute to shaping national policies. Her focus, she said, is on authentic representation, transparency, and inclusivity, seeking to move beyond traditional power politics and create a platform rooted in dialogue and reform.
While it remains to be seen how the party will perform in the evolving political arena, Reham Khanโs entry adds a new dimension to Pakistanโs already dynamic political narrative, signaling her commitment to contest national issues and give voice to segments she believes are underrepresented.
