Redmi has quietly launched the Redmi 17 5G as its latest budget smartphone in China. The device is expected to arrive in Pakistan later, although the company has not announced an official launch date.
The Redmi 17 5G appears to be a rebranded Redmi A7 Pro with minor hardware differences. However, it features a different Unisoc chipset and a slightly smaller battery.
Display, Performance And Camera Features
The smartphone features a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the screen offers a 240Hz touch sampling rate, DC dimming and up to 800 nits of peak brightness.
The display also includes TÜV Rheinland triple eye-protection certification and Wet Touch 2.0 technology. Furthermore, the device offers a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Powered by the 6nm Unisoc T8300 chipset, the phone is available with 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Both variants include 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, while a dedicated microSD card slot supports storage expansion.
The Redmi 17 5G runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and supports 5G, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4. Meanwhile, photography relies on a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera.
Battery, Pricing And Availability
The smartphone packs a 6,300mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging. In addition, it supports 7.5W reverse wired charging along with PD and QC charging protocols.
The 4GB RAM and 128GB storage model is priced at around $150. Meanwhile, the 6GB RAM and 128GB variant costs approximately $180.
The Redmi 17 5G is currently available in China. However, reports suggest the international version could launch with a different design and specifications.
