Rawalpindi district will begin a four-day polio vaccination campaign on August 10. Authorities aim to immunise more than 989,924 children under five years.
Officials shared campaign details during a District Polio Eradication Committee meeting. Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir chaired the session with health authorities.
Representatives from the Health Department, WHO, and the polio programme attended. Officials also reviewed preparations for the Special Integrated Area Development campaign.
The meeting focused on operational planning for the August 10 to 13 drive. Moreover, officials discussed security, logistics, cold chain management, and campaign monitoring.
Thousands Of Teams Prepared For Vaccination Drive
Authorities will deploy 4,215 mobile vaccination teams across the district. Additionally, 232 fixed teams and 176 transit teams will support the campaign.
The district will also deploy 686 area in-charges during the exercise. Furthermore, 200 union council medical officers will supervise vaccination activities.
Officials prepared detailed micro-plans to improve coverage in high-risk areas. Consequently, authorities aim to ensure every eligible child receives the vaccine.
Deputy Commissioner Orders Full Coordination
Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir called polio eradication a national responsibility. He directed all departments to work with complete commitment.
Nasir stressed that authorities must achieve 100 percent vaccination coverage. He also instructed officials to vaccinate every eligible child without delay.
The deputy commissioner warned against negligence during the campaign. Therefore, authorities will take strict action against officials showing poor performance.
Health officials urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams. Meanwhile, authorities remain committed to eliminating polio from the district.
