Punjab’s Health Department has sealed a private laboratory in Rawalpindi for allegedly issuing fake medical certificates for overseas travel. Meanwhile, authorities arrested two suspects and recovered forged documents during the operation.
Health Department Takes Action Against Private Laboratory
The operation took place at a private laboratory located on Murree Road in Rawalpindi. Furthermore, officials sealed the facility after uncovering its alleged involvement in issuing fraudulent medical certificates.
Authorities arrested two suspects during the raid and recovered several fake medical certificates. According to officials, the laboratory owner allegedly sold the forged documents for thousands of rupees.
Investigators said the certificates were reportedly marketed to people travelling abroad for Hajj, Umrah and employment. Consequently, the Health Department launched legal action against those involved.
Officials Urge Public To Avoid Fraud
District Health Officer Hafiz Jawad Zahid advised citizens to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes. He urged overseas travellers to obtain vaccination certificates only through the Rawalpindi Health Department.
He explained that the department issues health cards after conducting mandatory medical examinations. These tests include screening for meningitis, coronavirus, tuberculosis, typhoid, polio, hepatitis and other infectious diseases.
Additionally, the Health Department appealed to the public for assistance in identifying individuals involved in similar fraudulent activities. Officials said public cooperation would help curb the sale of fake medical documents and protect overseas travellers.
