Qatar has firmly rejected Israeli media reports claiming that Doha agreed to participate in military action against Iran. The government described the allegations as false and said they were intended to damage Qatar’s diplomatic role in the region.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the International Media Office said the reports were circulated by individuals seeking to draw Qatar into the conflict. Moreover, it accused those behind the claims of attempting to undermine Doha’s mediation efforts and increase regional instability.
The statement stressed that Qatar has consistently maintained since the start of the US-Iran conflict that it has neither participated nor intends to participate in military operations against any neighbouring country.
Doha reaffirms commitment to diplomacy
Qatar said it would not allow misleading reports to weaken its diplomatic initiatives. Furthermore, the government pledged to continue working with regional and international partners to help end the conflict through dialogue.
Officials added that Doha remains committed to achieving a comprehensive and sustainable agreement that addresses the concerns of all parties involved. However, the International Media Office did not identify the Israeli media outlets that published the reports or provide additional details.
Regional tensions remain high
The latest statement comes as tensions continue across the region following the conflict that began in February, when the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran. Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
Although Iran and the United States reached a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding last month, recent exchanges of attacks around the Strait of Hormuz have renewed concerns about regional security. Diplomatic efforts continue as regional powers seek to prevent further escalation and restore stability.
