The Punjab government has approved the establishment of Strike Enforcement Stations under the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA). The initiative aims to enhance on-ground enforcement and ensure faster action against regulatory violations throughout the province.
According to official reports, the move is part of the provincial governmentโs broader strategy to strengthen governance, improve compliance, and maintain order in urban and rural areas. The Strike Enforcement Stations will serve as operational hubs for rapid response and regulatory action.
Immediate Response Units for Key Provincial Bodies
Under the new plan, a dedicated PERA Strike Force will be deployed to conduct immediate operations. These units will work closely with major provincial agencies, including the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), and Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs).
Officials have emphasized that the Strike Force will operate without geographic restrictions, allowing it to respond quickly to complaints and violations across Punjab. This will help reduce delays in enforcement and improve overall regulatory efficiency.
The Strike Enforcement Stations will be strategically located to ensure coverage across all major cities and districts. Teams will be trained for rapid action against illegal activities, ensuring provincial authorities can maintain law and order more effectively.
Legal Backing Through Amendments to PERA Act 2024
To support the operational expansion, the Punjab government has approved amendments to the PERA Act 2024. The revised legislation grants the authority enhanced legal powers, enabling it to enforce regulations more effectively.
Under the new law, PERA officers will be empowered to act against:
-
Tax defaulters resisting payment
-
Illegal private housing societies operating without approvals
-
Transport operators violating provincial regulations
Officials highlighted that the legal amendments are intended to ensure PERAโs Strike Force can take decisive action while maintaining compliance with due process. The amendments also provide clarity on operational protocols, jurisdiction, and inter-agency cooperation.
Aimed at Strengthening Governance and Compliance
Provincial authorities expect the Strike Enforcement Stations to improve regulatory enforcement significantly. By addressing violations promptly, the government aims to create a safer, more orderly, and compliant environment across Punjab.
PERAโs enhanced capabilities are also expected to help recover revenues, streamline transport operations, and curb unapproved urban development. Officials said that the new structure will act as a model for modern regulatory enforcement, combining rapid response with legal authority.
The government plans to monitor the effectiveness of the Strike Force and may expand its operations further if results meet expectations. Officials have emphasized that the focus remains on improving provincial governance, protecting public interests, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
