Five Branches Face Enforcement Action
LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has sealed several branches of international fast-food chain KFC in Lahore over alleged violations related to tax compliance, according to official sources.
Authorities confirmed that five KFC outlets were closed during the enforcement operation. The affected locations reportedly include branches in DHA EME, Askari 10, and DHA Z Block, while details of the remaining outlets have not yet been officially disclosed.
The action forms part of the PRAโs ongoing campaign to strengthen tax compliance and improve enforcement of sales tax regulations across the province.
Meanwhile, KFC had not issued an official response at the time of reporting. Authorities said they would continue proceedings in accordance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
Broader Crackdown on Tax Violations Continues
The latest development follows a series of similar enforcement actions carried out by the PRA against businesses accused of violating tax requirements.
Earlier this month, the authority sealed multiple branches of the coffee chain Double Shot in Lahore over allegations of underreporting sales and failing to comply with electronic invoicing regulations.
According to an official order issued under Section 59A of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012, the business allegedly bypassed the mandatory Electronic Invoice Monitoring System and under-declared taxable transactions.
Officials stated that such measures are intended to ensure transparency in business operations and strengthen revenue collection through proper documentation of sales activity.
Authorities Stress Compliance Measures
In a separate development, tax authorities in Islamabad recently sealed a branch of Red Apple in F-6 Markaz over allegations involving the issuance of unverified sales tax receipts.
Initial findings suggested concerns regarding the use of non-authenticated invoices, prompting intervention by enforcement teams.
Revenue authorities maintain that businesses operating in Pakistan must comply with electronic invoicing requirements and accurately report taxable sales. Officials said enforcement operations will continue against entities found violating tax regulations, adding that compliance remains essential for ensuring fair competition and protecting government revenue.
The PRA has not yet announced when the sealed KFC outlets may be allowed to resume operations.
