Punjab Police have started preparing a list of police officers allegedly involved in corruption and misconduct following directions from the Punjab chief minister. Authorities have launched a province-wide review of Station House Officers (SHOs).
Police officials are collecting confidential reports and service records of SHOs across the province. The Special Branch, police departments and other relevant agencies have also been asked to provide information about the officers under review.
Police Conduct Confidential Public Surveys
Authorities are conducting confidential surveys among local residents to assess the performance and reputation of SHOs in their respective areas. Officials will use the feedback alongside departmental reports during the scrutiny process.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said authorities would take final action only after thoroughly verifying all available information. He added that Punjab Police were also following the standard operating procedures issued by the Inspector General’s office for appointing SHOs.
Corrupt Officers Face Possible Removal
Kamran said officers with records of corruption cases would not be allowed to continue serving as SHOs. Reports from various institutions, including criminal records and details of corruption cases, are expected to reach the Lahore Capital City Police Officer on Monday.
Officials said authorities would take strict action against officers found involved in corruption. The department has adopted a zero-tolerance approach as part of the ongoing scrutiny.
The review aims to strengthen accountability and improve public confidence in police leadership across Punjab. Authorities will determine further action after completing the verification process.
