The Punjab government has launched the Online Mulakat App to simplify prison visits for families of inmates. The mobile application offers a digital system for booking meetings and sending funds.
Developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board, the application is available on the Google Play Store. It allows users to avoid long queues by scheduling visits online.
App Simplifies Prison Visit Scheduling
Families can book prison visits in advance without completing physical paperwork. Moreover, the app removes the need for intermediaries during the booking process.
After confirming a visit, users receive a unique digital token. They can present this token at the prisonโs front desk for a quicker check-in process.
Additionally, the application allows users to add multiple visitors within a single booking. Therefore, families can manage visits more conveniently through one platform.
The app also sends automated notifications whenever authorities cancel a scheduled meeting. These updates cover security concerns and administrative changes.
Digital Payments Support Prisoners
The Online Mulakat App also enables families to transfer funds digitally. Users can send money through JazzCash, EasyPaisa, or Raast directly to a prisonerโs upgraded savings account.
Consequently, families no longer need to rely on manual payment methods. The digital process makes financial transfers faster and more secure.
Punjab authorities said the application aims to modernize prison visitation services. Furthermore, the initiative seeks to reduce overcrowding and long waiting times at prisons across the province.
Officials believe the app will improve convenience for visitors while making prison administration more efficient. As a result, families can complete essential services through a secure digital platform.
