Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched 33 mobile police stations to bring essential policing services closer to citizens across the province.
The initiative includes six Pink Mobile Police Stations dedicated to women-related matters. The units will operate in different districts and aim to reduce travel time and expenses for residents of remote and underserved areas.
The mobile vans will also visit universities and girls’ colleges according to scheduled routes. Authorities can additionally deploy them to areas based on information received through Police Emergency 15 calls.
Mobile Vans Offer Multiple Police Services
Each mobile police station will provide 14 police-related services. These include FIR registration applications, online e-tagging, missing reports, criminal record checks, tenant registration, and employee verification.
Citizens will also be able to report lost CNICs, cards, chequebooks, and other documents. The units will provide police and character certificate verification services as well.
Driving Licence Facilities Available
The mobile stations will also provide several driving licence services. Citizens can obtain learner and regular licences, renew existing licences, request duplicates, and apply for international driving licences.
Meanwhile, the Pink Mobile Police Stations will have dedicated female staff to assist women with sensitive complaints. These include harassment, violence, and abuse involving women and children.
Authorities will announce the mobile units’ schedules through social media and other communication channels. Local mosque announcements will also inform residents before a van arrives in their area.
The government said the initiative aims to bring policing services to citizens’ doorsteps while making access easier for people living far from permanent police facilities.
