Teens Aged 16 to 18 Can Apply
Punjab government has introduced juvenile driving permits for young motorcyclists.
The new policy applies to teenagers aged between 16 and 18.
Traffic Police will start issuing the permits from this week.
Eligible applicants will be allowed to legally ride motorcycles and scooters under set conditions.
Only 125cc Motorcycles Allowed
Officials said the permit will only allow motorcycles and scooters up to 125cc.
The annual fee for the juvenile driving permit has been fixed at Rs500.
Applicants must provide a smart card or B-Form.
Parental consent will also be required before the permit is issued.
Written and Road Tests Made Mandatory
Applicants will first have to pass a written sign test.
They will then take a practical road test.
Successful applicants will receive their permits on the spot.
Young riders have been advised to visit their nearest licensing centre.
Authorities said helmets, indicators, and side-view mirrors will be mandatory.
Strict action will be taken against one-way violations, dangerous driving, and wheelies.
Officials warned that repeated violations may lead to permit cancellation.
The initiative aims to regulate young riders and reduce accidents involving underage motorcyclists.
