LAHORE: The Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) has launched a 24-hour toll-free helpline, 0800-01737, to provide women with immediate assistance, legal guidance, and protection across the province.
PWPA Director General Dr. Lubna Nazir said women experiencing harassment, domestic violence, physical abuse, or other emergencies can contact the helpline at any time without fear. Moreover, she confirmed that the service is completely free, enabling women to seek urgent help without any financial burden.
According to the authority, trained staff will respond to calls and connect women with the appropriate support services. The initiative aims to ensure timely assistance for those facing difficult situations.
Confidential Assistance and Legal Guidance
The authority stated that the helpline offers legal advice, protection services, and professional counselling to women in need. Furthermore, Dr. Nazir said officials treat every complaint with the highest level of seriousness to ensure prompt action.
She also assured callers that the authority will keep their identities and personal information strictly confidential throughout the process. As a result, women can report incidents without worrying about their privacy or safety.
Dr. Nazir said the launch of the helpline reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to creating a safer environment for women across the province. She added that no woman should face violence, harassment, or abuse alone when support is available.
Finally, she encouraged women who require assistance to contact the 24-hour toll-free helpline immediately by calling 0800-01737. The authority hopes the service will improve access to protection, legal support, and counselling for women in need while strengthening efforts to address violence and abuse promptly.
