The Punjab government has unveiled an ambitious plan to develop a new airport in Lahore, aiming to enhance the regionโs aviation infrastructure and reduce pressure on existing air routes. The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) has pinpointed a strategic site near Ravi City, located alongside the M-3 Motorway, as the proposed location for this modern aviation hub.
According to recent updates, the new airport in Lahore is expected to be situated around 30 kilometres away from Allama Iqbal International Airport. Discussions are currently ongoing regarding the projectโs estimated cost, design, and funding strategy. Officials highlighted that the proposal is still in its preliminary phase, with multiple feasibility assessments being carried out to ensure long-term sustainability and economic benefit.
The establishment of a new airport in Lahore is anticipated to significantly ease congestion at the existing Allama Iqbal International Airport while opening new doors for employment, tourism, and investment. Once finalized, the project will not only strengthen Lahoreโs connectivity with global destinations but also play a key role in driving regional growth and modern urban development under RUDAโs vision.
