Actor Fahad Mustafa welcomed Punjabโs decision to ease cinema timing restrictions. The provincial government announced revised business hours under its austerity policy. Consequently, cinemas will now remain open until 11 pm across the province.
Mustafa expressed his appreciation after the government issued the new notification. He shared the announcement on Instagram and thanked Maryam Nawaz for the decision. He also encouraged people to visit cinemas and watch his latest film, Zombeid.
Actorโs Appeal Receives Positive Response
Earlier this week, Mustafa requested an extension in cinema operating hours. He addressed his appeal to Marriyum Aurangzeb through an open letter. According to the actor, the previous restrictions affected newly released films. He argued that audiences needed more flexibility to attend evening screenings.
The actor stated that films require strong audience support during their initial release period. Therefore, he urged authorities to allow cinemas additional operating time. Following the governmentโs announcement, supporters welcomed the decision online.
New Business Schedule Takes Effect
Under the revised policy, authorities divided businesses into four categories. Shops, markets, malls, and bazaars must close by 9 pm. Meanwhile, marriage halls and marquees will operate until 10 pm.
Restaurants, cafes, cinemas, and eateries can now remain open until 11 pm. Additionally, fruit and vegetable shops received the same closing schedule. However, several businesses remain exempt from the restrictions.
Bakeries, fuel stations, gyms, sports facilities, IT companies, and call centres face no timing limits. Similarly, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, and medical supply stores remain exempt. Officials said these exemptions recognize the essential nature of such services.
