The Punjab government has approved scholarships worth more than Rs. 60 million for Gilgit-Baltistan students.
Nearly 500 students will benefit from the Chief Ministerโs Honhaar Scholarship Scheme. Students from seven educational institutions across Gilgit-Baltistan will receive the scholarships.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will award the scholarships on Tuesday. The initiative aims to support talented students and improve their access to higher education.
Honhaar Scheme Extends Support Beyond Punjab
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat described the scholarships as a gift for Gilgit-Baltistan students.
He said the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme includes a dedicated quota for students from every province. Therefore, the program extends educational support beyond Punjab and promotes wider opportunities.
The minister emphasized the Punjab governmentโs commitment to supporting students from different regions. He said the initiative will help deserving students continue their educational journeys.

Scholarships For AJK Students Coming Soon
Rana Sikandar Hayat also announced plans to introduce scholarships for students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the Punjab government will launch the scholarships for AJK students in the coming days. The move will further expand the reach of the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme.
