The deputy commissioner of Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, has declared a public holiday on November 17 (Monday) to mark the 754th annual Urs of Syed Asghar Ali Shah, popularly known as Sakhi Jam Datar. According to an official notification issued on Friday, the holiday will apply across the district, enabling citizens to participate in the revered spiritual festivities.
Three-Day Urs at Jam Sahib
The three-day Urs celebrations will be held from November 17 to 19 at Jam Sahib. The annual event highlights the regionโs rich Sufi traditions and cultural heritage, honouring Sakhi Jam Datar, one of Sindhโs most respected spiritual figures. Deputy Commissioner Nizamani said that district authorities are coordinating logistics and security arrangements to ensure a smooth celebration for devotees arriving from across Sindh and other provinces.
10th Thal Jeep Rally Begins in Muzaffargarh
In a separate development, the 10th Thal Jeep Rally commenced with great excitement in Muzaffargarh. Around 100 male and female drivers have registered for the event, which began with technical inspections, tagging, and medical examinations. The qualifying round features a three-kilometre track in the desert, where participants will display their driving skill and endurance.
Rally Dedicated to Flood Victims
Former champion Nader Magsi expressed delight over dedicating the rally to Pakistanโs flood-affected communities, calling it a tribute to their resilience. He noted that despite early doubts due to flood damage, the rally was successfully organized with strong public participation.
Local Holiday Announced in Muzaffargarh
To celebrate the rally and accompanying local fair, the deputy commissioner of Muzaffargarh has announced a district-wide holiday on Saturday, November 8, encouraging residents to attend the event.
