Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the PTI leadership supports the September 27 long march to Islamabad.
Afridi said PTI’s provincial and central leadership jointly decided the date. He added that the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan alliance also supports the plan.
He made the remarks while addressing concerns raised by Aleema Khan. The sister of PTI founder Imran Khan reportedly questioned why leaders were selected on September 27.
Afridi described Aleema as non-political and said she speaks as Imran Khan’s sister. He expressed confidence about convincing her after explaining the decision’s facts and figures.
Afridi Rejects Claims Of Secret Deal
Afridi rejected allegations that he agreed to the September 27 date following a secret deal. He urged overseas PTI leaders to contact him before making such claims publicly.
According to Afridi, such allegations could mislead supporters and create unnecessary confusion. He said people committed to Imran Khan and PTI should seek clarification before making public accusations.
The chief minister also rejected a specific claim involving Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Reports alleged that Afridi met Naqvi and another official on August 4.
KP Chief Minister Denies Alleged Meeting
Afridi described the reported meeting as completely baseless. He said he remained at KP House in Islamabad from noon until 4:30pm that day.
He explained that he attended meetings concerning the province’s Pado KP and telemedicine initiatives. Therefore, he denied meeting the interior minister during that period.
When asked whether the meeting occurred in Peshawar, Afridi again rejected the allegation. He said he remained in Islamabad and described the claim as sheer and baseless.
Meanwhile, the September 27 announcement has generated debate within PTI circles. Afridi maintained that the date reflects a collective decision by the party and its allied groups.
He also reiterated that party leadership remains aligned with the planned long march. Further discussions could determine preparations and participation ahead of the scheduled protest.
